The PEC Jazz Festival is looking for a jazz-loving volunteer Treasurer to help us stay in the black, keep our books in order, and ensure that all filings are submitted correctly and on time. And so it began. Big Smoke Brass Tuesday August 12 at Huff Estates Winery. What a great start to the 25th PEC Jazz Festival.
A wild, sold-out night with Doghouse Orchestra at Huff Estates Winery, Wednesday August 13.
A perfect summer afternoon with the fabulous Caity Gyorgy with Mark Limacher, charming a sold out house in the Barrel Room at Sandbanks Winery, Thursday August 14.
What an amazing afternoon with Ahmed Moneka & Friends at Waring Hall, Friday, August 15. Ahmed thrilled the audience with his wonderful music and fascinating stories.
What better way to start a summer day than with Colleen Allen and Gord Sheard at beautiful Glenwood Cemetery. Thanks to the Glenwood volunteers for making everyone feel so welcome. Saturday August 16.
Saturday night August 16 featured The Music of Quincy Jones at the glorious Regent Theatre. With a custom, all-star ensemble, we explored decades worth of music from the Quincy Jones catalog.
Apparently we were ready for more on Saturday night. Time for After Hours in The Regent Loft with Steve Holt, Paul Novotny and Terry Clarke. August 16 (slipping into August 17).
The 25th PEC Jazz Festival came to a close at Waring Hall with the amazing Dánae Olano, with Roberto Riverón Mederos on bass and Ahmed Mitchel on drums. Dánae's Cuban-flavoured jazz was a perfect finish to a week of highlights. Sunday, August 17.
PEC Jazz Festival Awarded a 2025 PEC Arts Fund Grant

July 4, 2025 - The PEC Jazz Festival is excited to have been awarded a 2025 PEC Arts Fund Grant.
"This fund supports arts-mandated organizations providing services, programs, and amenities in the realm of the arts. Organizations may apply for single or multi-year grants to assist with general operating expenses, special projects, capacity building, events, or programming." "The Prince Edward County Jazz Festival promotes appreciation and public understanding of jazz and advances musical education for students and young musicians by presenting high quality performances, training and mentoring experiences, awards, and clinics in PEC and surrounding areas. Funding will provide operational support to produce and execute a 6-day music festival delivering a program of 30+ performances throughout PEC." |

A brief history of jazz in the County
Our good friends at the Picton Gazette have published a wonderful retrospective of the first 25 years of the Prince Edward County Jazz Festival. "Jazz is uniquely collaborative. It requires careful listening and a responsiveness to new ideas — while its musicians play together. The call and response built into its musical forms is very social. Every performance is a conversation.
